Florida Healthy Kids Launches New Website

New site makes it easier for families to learn about health coverage

TALLAHASSEE – Florida Healthy Kids Corporation recently launched a revamped website at www.healthykids.org. The new site is more user-friendly and makes it even easier for families to learn how to sign up for Florida’s high-quality, low-cost children’s health coverage.

“Our website is a key part of making it easy for families to enroll in Florida KidCare, including Florida Healthy Kids.” Florida Healthy Kids Corporation (FHKC) Executive Director Rich Robleto said. “The 24/7 access to online applications and program information is vital to ensure they have a way to find the information and assistance they need.”

The site makes it easy for families to fill out an online application, which is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to providing an online application and details about benefits, the site features health tips, health event listings and social media links.

FHKC is one of four Florida KidCare partners. A public-private organization, FHKC was created by the Legislature in 1990 and is a part of the state Children's Health Insurance Program. FHKC provides health insurance for children ages 5-18. There currently are more than 222,300 children enrolled in Florida Healthy Kids.

Florida KidCare, created in 1998, is made up of four programs (Medicaid, MediKids, Healthy Kids and Children’s Medical Services Network) that collectively provide health insurance for children from birth through age 18. Most families pay less than $20. In fact, 85 percent pay nothing at all. Full-pay options are also available. Children enrolled in the program receive regular doctor’s visits, dental check-ups, immunizations, emergency care and much more. Currently, 1.9 million children are enrolled in Florida KidCare.
