Florida KidCare Partners Unveil Mobile App

~Made possible through a grant from Bank of America~

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida KidCare partners today are launching a free mobile app for potential and current KidCare enrollees, making it easier than ever for Florida families to access low-cost or no-cost, high-quality health insurance. The development of the mobile app, called “FL KidCare,” is available in Android and Apple download markets and was made possible by a Bank of America grant presented to Florida Healthy Kids, the administrative arm of Florida KidCare.

“We proactively work to ensure we’re operating with the most current technology to be able to deliver as many options as possible to our families,” says Rich Robleto, Executive Director of Florida Healthy Kids. “The FL KidCare app will allow our families to have convenient access to our events, customer service and online payment portals directly from their mobile devices.”

While the app will be beneficial to Florida KidCare families, it also will be a valuable tool for KidCare grantees, state agency partners and physicians, as they help the families in their communities complete the application process.

Through Florida KidCare, the state of Florida is able to offer health insurance for children from birth through age 18, even if one or both parents are working. Florida KidCare covers a range of important medical services from routine doctor and dental visits to more specialized services such as mental health and emergency care.

The FL KidCare mobile app includes the following features:

“With nearly half a million of Florida’s children still uninsured, this tool will help us to process applications much faster and more efficiently when we are in the field meeting with families,” says Jodi Ray, with Florida Covering Kids & Families.

Florida KidCare, created in 1998, is made up of four programs (Medicaid, MediKids, Healthy Kids and Children’s Medical Services Network) that collectively provide health insurance for children from birth through age 18. Currently, more than 2 million children are enrolled in Florida KidCare. For more information, visit www.floridakidcare.org.
